About
Painting people, building worlds.
My name is Gabija Malinauskaitė, and I am a multidisciplinary artist working across painting, 3D modeling, and animation.
My art is centered around people, emotions, and the small details that make everyday moments meaningful. I am drawn to portraiture, character-driven narratives, and the atmosphere of lived-in spaces - capturing not only how something looks, but how it feels.
I started with traditional art and later moved into 3D animation, studying at Dongseo University in South Korea. Working digitally taught me to think about art in a different way, while painting remained a constant part of how I explore ideas.
In my 3D work, I enjoy building detailed environments and characters and figuring out how they fit into a world. Painting gives me a different kind of freedom. It is a more intuitive way to explore color, texture, light, and human expression. I mostly work with oils, acrylics, gouache, and pastels, i especially enjoy the physicality of working directly with the material.
A lot of my inspiration comes from things that feel familiar: old photographs, nature, places I remember, and, most importantly, the people around me. I’m interested in making work that has a sense of history to it - something that feels like it existed before you saw it.
